Overview

Copper Electrolytic Equipment/System Process
Preparation of the Electrolyte: Copper ore or scrap is initially processed to create a solution (electrolyte) containing copper ions. This typically involves dissolving copper in sulfuric acid, creating a copper sulfate solution.
Electrolysis Setup: The electrolytic cell consists of an anode (usually made of impure copper) and a cathode (made of pure copper). These electrodes are submerged in the electrolyte solution.
Electrolytic Reaction: When an electric current is passed through the cell, copper ions (Cu²) from the anode dissolve into the solution, while copper ions from the solution are deposited onto the cathode.
Collection of Products: Over time, pure copper accumulates on the cathode, while impurities settle at the bottom of the cell or remain in solution. The process usually takes several days to weeks, depending on the desired thickness of the copper deposit.
Harvesting and Further Processing: Once sufficient copper has been deposited, the cathodes are removed, and the copper is stripped off for further processing or sale.
